The carnival is an excellent opportunity to see not only the door-to-door rounds of Kurents that UNESCO put on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, but to also observe a number of folk and carnival parades, meet traditional and modern carnival characters, go to a masquerade and so much more.



Music aficionados will love the Arsana international music festival. Arsana has earned its prominent place among music festivals with its exquisite program and performances by classical, jazz, world, vocal, and instrumental musicians.



Contemporary art lovers are probably already familiar with the Art Stays festival. The festival showcases the latest contemporary artworks by prominent home and foreign authors, including big names such as Ai Weiwei and Yoko Ono.



This international poetry festival brings together private and public readings of the works of Slovenian and foreign poets, and best Slovenian wines in the charming old town center of Ptuj. A real treat for locals and visitors.



Once a year, Ptuj turns back time by some 2000 years and becomes Roman Poetovio, showcasing the rich history of the region. The town is taken over by over 800 gladiators, Roman soldiers, senators, Vestal Virgins, and other representatives of Ancient Rome, putting on one of the largest reenactments of the Roman life in this part of Europe.
